Jiazhanong Fm
Type Locality and Naming
The type section is located at Jianzhanong in the vicinity of the snowy Xiakangjian Mt. about 120 km to the southeast of Gaizhe County, Tibet. It was named by Li Xingxue, Wu Yimin et al. in 1986.
Lithology and Thickness
Clastics. Composed of grey siltstone, sandstone and micro-conglomerate, intercalated sometimes with coal seams, with a thickness of over 724 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Uncertain contact with the underlying strata. Next older unit in region is the Xiala Fm (middle Permian)
Upper contact
Regional extent
Distributed in a restricted area, being found to occur only in the type section.

Fossils
Abundant plant fossils (phytolites), among which the Pecopteris aff. arcuata and Plagiozamites? oblongifolius should belong to the members of the Cathaysian flora, while the Phyllotheca, Noeggerathiopsis hislopii, etc. represent the members of the Gondwana flora, being possessed of nature of a mixed flora.

Shuzhong Shen et al (2019; Permian integrated stratigraphy and time scale) stratigraphic column has a Mujiucuo Fm of Changhsingian above the Xiala Fm on this Lhasa block region (but not in Permian Lexicon), and do not indicate this Jiazhanong Fm
